Representatives of PATH, Allegheny Energy, American Electric, and FERC:

Your approach to notifying the public and affected landowners is unethical and uncaring. The least you could have done was sent a letter directly to them, explaining the situation and leaving the lines of communication open. Instead you chose to post an ad, leaving people to "run for cover" as they were unexpectedly and rudely yanked from their already busy and hardworking day, their work, and family obligations.  They were forced to write letters, file forms and make calls regarding PATH as they tried to understand the nightmare unfolding in their laps and began to realize that they could be screwed by big business, forced to give up their land, or forced to live under power lines.

Do you even CARE?

You have chosen to bisect my family property without asking us, forcing my parents to now live mere feet from a high voltage transmission power line, which will have severe negative impacts on their health and destroy the peaceful and simple country life that they chose to live.  Are you planning on compensating them WELL over the current total property value so that they can move to another location that they like without having to lose their savings or rights to the land?  You are after all, the ones who decided that my parents should have this burden.  Not only that, because you people were using outdated data, the process and court hearings have been delayed for almost a year.  What are you going to do about the mental distress you are forcing my parents to live with?  I have a huge problem with this.

It's bad enough that you are choosing to destroy history which can never be replaced.  You should pay through the nose to compensate for emotional distress, anxiety, depression, relocation expenses, pain, duress/coercion (threats of losing their land to you), loss of income due to disruption of home business, destruction of family history, destruction of the chance for future generations to experience the land that my family has worked so hard to preserve, etc.

If this "PATH of destruction" is for the supposed benefit of the nation - doesn't that include my parents? Isn't my family part of the nation? My family literally helped settle this country.  If you minimally compensate my parents with what you deem "just compensation" they will have to give up their savings to move from the power lines or they will be forced to stay there and live in fear. This is unacceptable.   We have owned the land for centuries and the sentimentality is what gives it its' value. You are permanently destroying our land and history.  My father already fought a war for you. Is this how he is repaid?

I'm sure other families are in the same boat.  Land is blood in WV.

PATH, Allegheny Energy, and American Electric, what are you going to do about this problem? Don't insult affected landowners with low-ball sell-out prices and fear tactics like "this is all we can give and it's only good until Friday..sign along the dotted line" under the looming threat of eminent domain.  Don't try to take advantage of rural people because you think you can get away with it.  At least do the honorable thing and let affected property owners be set for life so that they have the option to live in comfort and away from power lines.  You are afterall, affecting the past, present and future of a family.  A family that is part of the same nation that your little "PATH of destruction" project is supposed to benefit because it is allegedly "necessary."

Who are you to decide that my parents have to live in constant fear?  How would you like it?  My guess is that you wouldn't since it's not in your backyard.  You are forcing my family to accept adverse health conditions and destroyed property.  I have a problem with this too.

If this is to "benefit" the nation, where exactly is the benefit for my parents?  higher rates? decreased property value? living in fear? destroyed property? destruction of the environment? destruction of family history? no more savings because you shafted them? After they have worked so hard all of their lives?

If it is for the "benefit" of America, then my parents and other affected property owners should be treated and compensated like heroes for giving up their land.  Certainly not punished and treated like fools.

Every WV citizen is going to be affected by this.  EVERYONE.

This is a public interest issue.  This is an environmental issue. This is truly an  American issue. This is a real issue. Everyone needs to be involved.  This is the type of story you always hear about.  Now it's here.

Either take care of the citizens affected by your "PATH of destruction" that you insist is " necessary and truly treat them like respected citizens, or remove West Virginia from the Energy Corridor.

Lets Keep It Real People.
This is a perfect example of how innocent people get screwed by corporate america and big business.
